Road figures are routed along the road network between the two points named; straight-line figures are the distance between the same points on the map. The canyon road via Penšići is the shorter way from Omiš to Zadvarje but the slower one: it climbs through the villages on narrow roads, while the inland road is wider and faster.

By car

From Split, follow the coast road south-east through Stobreč and Podstrana to Omiš. The canyon starts at the bridge over the Cetina in the town: from there the road into the canyon follows the river past Kaštil Slanica to Radmanove mlinice. The coast road through the resorts between Split and Omiš can be slow in high season, so leave extra time.

For Zadvarje and the Gubavica waterfall, the motorway is quicker from Split: 60.2 km to the village, with the last part on the road down from the Šestanovac junction. From Omiš there are two roads up: the inland road through Gata and Šestanovac (30.0 km) and the narrower road along the canyon villages through Kučiće, Podgrađe and Penšići (25.7 km).

By bus

Promet Split’s suburban line 60 runs Split, Omiš, Ravnički most, with frequent departures through the day. In Omiš the bus stops near the bridge and the harbour, a short walk from where the river boats leave. Check the timetable on the Promet Split site before you travel; the line runs a different number of departures on Sundays and holidays.

Up the canyon without a car

There is no regular public transport from Omiš up to the canyon starts. In practice:

  • The river boat leaves from Omiš itself, by the bridge, and takes you to Radmanove mlinice and back: see the river boat trip.
  • Rafting and canyoning companies usually meet their groups in Omiš or Zadvarje and drive them to the start, and some collect from Split. Ask when you book where the meeting point is.
  • On foot, Radmanove mlinice is 5.9 km from the Omiš bridge along the river road, about an hour and a half.
  • Taxi for Zadvarje or the canyon villages.
